which is at the disposal of students in my department at
Hong Kong University and to others.
A specimen copy of the
Hong Kong Naturalist is enclosed to show what type of
publication it is.
In order to make possible the maintenance of the Hong
Kong Naturalist on this basis it has been necessary to establish
personal contacts with scientists in many Universities in the
far East, and at home. During the last four years I have
spent several weeks in Java, Malaya, the Philipines and China
and have made personal contacts with persons on the staff of
Universities, Fisheries, Botanic Gardens, and Scientific
Institutions of all kinds and these contacts have been
maintained by subsequent correspondence.
In China itself
I have visited Universities and Scientific Institutions in
Canton, Amoy, Nanking, Peiping; I have also been invited to
р lecture in Canton, the Philipines, Canada and California.
I know personally a number of American Scientists, many of
whom have given me valuable assistance.
As a result of four years work scientists in a number
of Universities and research institutions are at work on
material collected by my organisation in Hong Kong. The
results are published quarterly in the journal for which I
am responsible and go to many leading institutions in China
and other Asiatic countries, and in Europe and America.
